The story of Kuda Kahanbu.

Kuda Kahanbu is really upset. He has been upset for a long time. He has a large family and being the eldest in a large family is not so cool. His papa goes to work early in the morning and returns late in the evening. So while his mom cooks and cleans their home, he has to take care of his siblings. He has to play with all his five brothers and six sisters. He has to take his siblings to school. And that’s not all, he has to do a lot of house chores too. To top it all, he has to comb his granny’s hair, every night before she goes to sleep. And gobble up his moms seaweed custard delight, because it is good for health… it builds muscles and protects you from diseases, was what his moms used to say, though he would rather eat raw sea weed. Being the oldest is not very cool, says Kuda Kahanbu. NOPE, BEING A KAHANBU IS NOT SO COOL AT ALL! He thought. I know I don’t want to be a Kuda Kahabu anymore. I want to be something else. SO he flees from home, swims away, faraway until a little wave takes him towards the beach. Amazed by what surrounded him, he quickly plods on to the beach. On his way, he meets a crab. Without second thoughts he goes to live with the crab family. It did not take very long for him to realize that he did not want to live with the crabs. For one thing the hole was too stuffy. It was hard to move a limb inside the teeny little hole. And for no reason he got scratched by his fellow crab brothers. Living with the crabs is not at all cool, it’s hurt some and bothersome, Kuda Kahnbu wonders. Next day, he meets a bat and they become friends. I know… I just realized that I want to be a bat! Cries kuda kahanbu out loud. So kuda kahanbu goes and lives with the bat family. Strangely enough two things make him really go bonkers. His bat family went in search of food at night, a time when he was used to sleep. He could at least try to figure that out. But how could he ever hang upside down to eat his food. HE did try, but what he got was a horrible headache. Living with bats is not so cool either, he thought. Sure enough it made him go dizzy and famished. Sitting in the shore he realized how much he missed his mommy’s sea weed pudding delight, his playful siblings and his granny’s long hair. He quickly dives down, swims acres to reach his home. What a heartwarming sight it was to see his family! That day he lovingly played with his siblings. He gulped his sea weed pudding delight in one go. He helped his mom clear the dishes. Combed his granny’s hair. He wasn’t tired at all. He was glad he came back. This is where he belonged. He slept at peace being grateful for being a kuda kahanbu and having a loving family.
